This week I wanted to share a story about how God works.

I am in Mexico serving at this time and the radio in my truck wasn’t working. I had driven a couple of times like that before talking with my mechanic there (Chuy Prieto, hi Chuy!). He says bring it around, it’s probably the battery. I prayed it was just the battery and nothing else.

On Monday, my day off, I get the house cleaned, prep some meals, and in the afternoon I head over to his shop. Chuy takes me to a nearby auto parts store to get the battery tested. There was not enough power in my battery to print the little piece of paper from the diagnostic machine. That’s why the radio wasn’t working, there wasn’t enough power to run it.

Yes, I needed a new battery. We head inside to buy one and they don’t have any. I mean they have batteries, just not big enough for the truck. This means I have to cross the border and buy one in El Paso, Texas.

On average it took 1.5 to 2.0 hours to cross the border into the United States on a Monday afternoon. Add driving through traffic in El Paso, buying the battery, installing it, and making it back across the border. Yikes. Not happening that day. I could buy a battery, but because of the time needed, I couldn’t go until Saturday afternoon. Plus there were activities that week I needed to drive to.

So I prayed again for God to help me. To make it that week until I could cross the border and get a new battery installed. Every time I got near my truck that week I was praying for a miracle. Lord let me make it to Saturday.

Which God said yes to, I made it to Saturday. I crossed the border, across El Paso, and bought a battery. Now the store I was at was busy. Packed with people. So I agreed to wait until the other customers were helped to get that battery installed.

A man in his early 20’s offered to help me change out the battery. He said he was there visiting because he used to work there. Him and his younger brother had nothing planned that Saturday night and were just hanging out. So I said yes, change it, which he did.

I was able to spend a nice chunk of time with this young man. He knew Jesus Christ and in his teens he had gone to church, served, prayed, the whole shebang. As he got older he got busier and his faith had fallen to wayside. We talked about how he spends his time, his current work, his dream job, how he could use that for the Kingdom.

Yes, I eventually got a battery that worked, I just had to wait all week so I could meet this young man. I got to spend time encouraging him and praying for him. Creepy how God works sometimes. He’ll use anything, won’t He. What does He have you waiting for?
